How UMed handles account, study plan, and app data for this educational planning tool.
Effective August 2, 2026Overview
UMed is an educational planning tool for medical learners. It helps users create study plans, schedule question-bank work, log progress, and adjust future study targets.
UMed is an educational planning tool. It is not medical advice, academic advising, or a guarantee of exam performance.
Do not enter patient names, patient identifiers, clinical case details, or protected health information.
Information We Collect
- Account and profile information such as email address, display name, medical school, medical school year, study goal, and Firebase user identifier.
- Study planning content such as rotation titles, rotation dates, exam and practice exam dates, student level, question-bank names and totals, day-type settings, daily targets, completed question counts, scores, review-day settings, and saved day logs.
- App settings such as theme preference, offline cache preference, tutorial progress, and local app version/build visibility.
- Pseudonymous usage analytics such as an app-instance identifier, app opens, screen views, successful plan and logging actions, app version, device type, operating system, and general region. Analytics are not linked to a UMed account identifier and do not include study-plan content, question counts, scores, dates, notes, bank names, email address, phone number, display name, medical school, medical school year, or study goal.
- Support and beta-testing information that you choose to send, including written feedback and an app screenshot when you use Firebase App Distribution feedback.
Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect
- Patient names, patient identifiers, clinical case details, protected health information, or health records.
- Precise location, contacts, advertising identifiers, or cross-app tracking data.
- Dedicated crash-reporting SDK data in the current app direction.
How We Use Information
- Authenticate accounts and keep users signed in.
- Save and sync user-specific study plans and daily logs.
- Recalculate future study targets after plan changes or logging.
- Support offline access to the user's own plan data on their device.
- Understand aggregate app engagement and improve app reliability and workflows.
- Respond to support, beta feedback, privacy, and account requests.
Storage, Processing, And Sharing
UMed uses Firebase services for authentication, Firestore data storage, hosting, Google Analytics for Firebase, and Android beta distribution and tester feedback. Google processes this data as a service provider to operate these services. UMed does not sell personal data and does not use advertising, advertising identifiers, ad personalization, or cross-app tracking.
Usage analytics are enabled by default. You can turn them off at any time in Settings under Device Settings. Turning analytics off denies analytics storage and stops future collection on that device; on native apps, the collection setting also applies on the next app launch.
Analytics retention follows the configured Google Analytics and BigQuery retention settings. Aggregate reports may remain after underlying event-level retention periods because they do not identify individual UMed accounts.
If crash reporting, AI features, school/admin features, or collaboration features are added later, this policy and the store disclosures should be reviewed before release.
Security And Account Scope
User data access is scoped by Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections through Firebase services.
Offline access may cache the user's own plan data on the device or browser. Users can clear local cached data from Settings without deleting cloud-saved account data.
Data Deletion
Users can request account, study-plan, and submitted beta-feedback deletion by emailing support@umedstudy.com or visiting the Data Deletion page. Deletion requests should include the email address used for the UMed account or beta invitation.
Because usage analytics are not linked to a UMed account identifier, UMed generally cannot locate analytics events by account email. Turning analytics off stops future collection on that device, subject to the native next-launch behavior described above.
